I think it was better that I didn’t play this page serious the entire way through. There is something in me that likes to undercut dramatic moments more than to let them play out in their entirety. I suppose then that goes to explain a lot of the general tone of my comic output thus far.

Now officially in the old stuff.

Now that we’ve run through the shiny intro we get into the older comics again. Things will go quickly until we catch back up, updating daily from here on in. To reiterate in brief: this is a director’s cut of the over two hundred pages of the comic that at the time ran under the name “Pointless.” Directly after the backlog is run through new content will be punished. Intermittently, there will be new content inserted into sections of the old work that will fill in gaps in the story or elaborate on specific points. There are also edits and corrections being made as these pages are uploaded.

Under the pages is a running commentary looking back on things learned from having made the comic so far. It is perhaps best ignored by anyone but those want to hear about where I made mistakes on every page.

One per day seems slow.

When you’re not actually drawing them as you go. I’m actually looking forward to getting things caught back up, and that’s saying something I guess. I think three a week will be the update rate I’ll settle back on. Seems to be about the limit of what can usually be done with full page comics without an exceptionally fast artist.

Buffer.

I’m quickly getting to the point at which I will no longer need to rework the oddly placed speech bubbles in older pages. They will not be missed in the least. Editing in page groups of five or so at a time is clearly the way to do it and remain sane.

Welcome to the new site.

So after some messing around with just about every solution for the hosting and managing of online comics that exists I finally found one that is just as simple as I wanted and has all the features I feel are desirable.

There are a few things to mention here at the start. First, there are some who might remember this comic under its old name “Pointless” a relic from a time where I thought that self deprecation would be a wonderful first impression to give everyone who visits the site. That name had a very long history for me and I feel that the reasons I used it at first and the reason I kept using it were good enough for the time, but a change needed to be made- especially considering that for a long time this comic had fallen from the internet almost entirely. Having already lost all the viewers that I had for those years there was no cause to cling to the old needlessly.

The new name stands for “Relic Technology” a term coined much later in the comic.

If you are rediscovering this comic, welcome back. For the next 215 or so days this comic will be re-updating daily with all of the old content of the site. This will be something akin to a re-cut of the original content. This directors cut will include new pages in places that will serve to flesh out the story as well as slight reworking of much of the dialogue. As the work progresses the changes will become less and less extensive, but it is my intent to not change any of the comic radically. Additionally I will be maintaining a running commentary under the pages, looking back on the old. After the re-posting ends new pages will be uploaded continuing and eventually finishing the story.

It is my hope some new people will find the site, of course. For the most part it will be entirely safe to ignore my comments on the bottom. In fact it might be preferable.

For the first six pages there will be a redraw of the original intro. Little actually changed from the original version- it does, however, look better. The older version of this intro will be available on this site eventually.
